A friendly representative from Dream Paradise will warmly greet you upon arrival. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and take in the excitement of the journey ahead. In the evening, join us for a brief orientation to help you prepare for your unforgettable trek into Nepal’s mountain paradise. This trek isn’t just about walking, it’s about disconnecting from the noise and reconnecting with nature. The mountains are calling, and your adventure is about to begin.
Your adventure begins in Kathmandu, where you have two excellent travel options to reach Pokhara, the stunning gateway to the Mardi Himal trek:
???? Option 1: Tourist Bus Ride (7-9 hours)
Enjoy a comfortable and scenic drive through picturesque valleys, terraced hills, fast-flowing rivers, and quaint rural settlements-perfect for those who want to soak in Nepal’s diverse landscape.
✈️ Option 2: Domestic Flight (30-35 minutes)
Choose a quick and convenient flight for a bird’s-eye view of Nepal’s spectacular terrain and snowcapped Himalayan peaks, ideal for travelers on a tighter schedule.
Upon arrival in Pokhara, check into your accommodation and take some time to relax. If you traveled by bus, enjoy the breathtaking views along the way, including rolling hills, meandering rivers, and charming villages.
Pokhara is a picturesque valley known for its serene lakes like Phewa and Begnas, surrounded by the majestic Himalayan ranges, including Annapurna (8,091m), Machapuchare (6,997m), Dhaulagiri (8,169m), Manaslu (8,156m), and Lamjung Himal (6,983m).
Often called a traveler’s paradise, Pokhara offers modern comforts while preserving its natural charm. After settling in, explore the vibrant Lakeside area, discover local culture, and visit popular attractions like Davis Falls, the World Peace Pagoda, and the International Mountain Museum. Whether you’re walking by the lakeside or enjoying the views, Pokhara is the perfect place to begin your Himalayan trekking journey.
Your unforgettable Mardi Himal Trek begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Dhampus Village, a traditional hilltop settlement offering your first glimpse of the majestic Himalayas. After a short rest, we begin our trek through lush landscapes and terraced farmlands, soaking in the tranquility of the Annapurna region.
We stop for lunch at Pittam Deurali, a picturesque village with panoramic views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli, a truly breathtaking sight on a clear day.
From Deurali, the trail leads us into a peaceful forest filled with oak, rhododendron, maple, and hemlock trees, where the fresh mountain air and birdsong accompany us every step of the way. Keep an eye out – you might spot monkeys, deer, or exotic birds as we make our way to Forest Camp (2,600m).
This day is more than just a trek – it’s an immersive journey into Nepal’s untouched natural beauty and biodiversity, setting the tone for an extraordinary Himalayan experience.
Today, your unforgettable journey to High Camp (3,700m) begins, one of the most scenic sections of the Mardi Himal Trek. We start our day with a peaceful one-hour walk through lush green forests filled with rhododendron, oak, and pine trees. Birds sing overhead as we gently make our way to Rest Camp.
From there, we continue climbing slowly and reach Low Camp in about 1.5 hours. As we leave the forest behind, the views begin to open up. Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) rises dramatically in the distance, creating a stunning mountain scene you’ll never forget.
Depending on the group’s pace and preference, we’ll stop for lunch at Low Camp or walk another 1.5 hours to Badal Danda, also known as Cloud Hill. This peaceful ridge offers 360-degree views of the surrounding Himalayan giants, including Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
The trail then continues along a high ridgeline. On the right, grassy hills roll under the open sky; on the left, trees still line the slope. This part of the trail feels remote and magical. You might even spot the colorful Danphe pheasant, Nepal’s national bird, along the way.
The final stretch takes about 2-3 hours as we head toward High Camp. The higher we go, the closer the mountains feel. At High Camp, cozy teahouses welcome us with warm food and friendly smiles. As the sun sets, the golden light over Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, and the Annapurna range creates a view that touches the soul.
Today is the most exciting and rewarding day of the Mardi Himal Trek! We wake up early at 3:40 AM and begin our hike by 4:00 AM, carrying only a light daypack. This early start gives us the chance to catch the breathtaking sunrise over the Himalayas – a magical moment you won’t want to miss.
The hike from High Camp to the Viewpoint (4,200m) takes around 2 hours. Along the way, the sky slowly brightens, and the towering peaks of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Mardi Himal start to glow in golden light. The trail is peaceful, and the beauty of nature surrounds you at every step.
At the Viewpoint, we take a break with a warm cup of tea or coffee from one of the small tea shops, enjoying the unforgettable mountain panorama. Since the kitchen at High Camp isn’t open this early, we’ll carry energy bars or dry snacks for breakfast.
For those who wish to go further, the trail continues for another hour to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m). The views here are truly spectacular. From the base camp, you’ll see a full display of snow-capped giants, including Mardi Himal (5,587m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Tent Peak, Baraha Shikhar, and many more.
After soaking in the views and taking memorable photos, we’ll return to High Camp for lunch. Then, we trek down to Badal Danda (Cloud Hill), which takes about 1.5 hours.
This day is long and challenging, but every step is filled with natural beauty, spiritual energy, and emotional reward – a day that will stay with you for a lifetime.
After breakfast, we take a moment to soak in the magical 360-degree mountain views from Badal Danda. The morning light casts golden hues on the peaks-an unforgettable sight that fills your heart with peace and wonder.
Our journey then begins with a gentle descent through serene pine and juniper forests. As we walk down to Forest Camp, we retrace part of the trail we had ascended earlier. From Forest Camp, we follow a different, less-traveled path toward Landruk Village-a charming Gurung settlement known for its traditional culture and warm hospitality.
The trail to Landruk winds through quiet woodlands and small hamlets, offering a peaceful and refreshing experience. Once we reach the village, you’ll be welcomed by the soothing rhythm of rural life and views of terraced fields set against the backdrop of the Annapurna range.
We stay overnight in Landruk, where the calm atmosphere and friendly locals will make you feel right at home. It’s the perfect place to rest, reflect, and appreciate the simple beauty of the Himalayas.
On the last morning of your unforgettable Mardi Himal Trek, enjoy a warm breakfast while soaking in the serene mountain atmosphere one final time. The peaceful village of Landruk bids you farewell as we begin our descent to Syauli Bazar, walking through terraced fields, traditional houses, and lush hillsides.
From Syauli Bazar, we drive back to Pokhara, where your journey began. As you return to this vibrant lakeside city, memories of snow-capped peaks, quiet forest trails, golden sunrises, and heartfelt moments with new friends will stay with you forever.
Once in Pokhara, we’ll drop you off at your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to unwind-take a calming walk along Phewa Lake, enjoy a lakeside coffee with views of Machhapuchhre reflected in the water, or celebrate your achievement with live music and local cuisine.
Tonight, you’ll rest in a cozy 3-star hotel, a well-deserved reward after days of trekking. This peaceful night marks the perfect ending to your Mardi Himal trekking adventure-a journey filled with beauty, challenge, and soul-stirring Himalayan magic. We hope this trek has touched your heart as deeply as the mountains touched the sky. May you carry this experience with you always

If Mardi Himal Base Camp trek is on your bucket list, the best time to go is right after the monsoon, starting in mid-September. The rains clear the skies, leaving the lowlands lush and green, while the towering white peaks shine against superb blue horizons, all without the extreme cold. Another excellent time is April, when the trail comes alive with vibrant rhododendrons in full bloom, adding color and charm to your Himalayan adventure.
Autumn Season (September–October – November): Nepal’s peak trekking season offers stable weather, crystal-clear mountain views, and a lively, festive atmosphere across the trails. With bustling tea houses and many fellow adventurers, it’s the best time to experience the Himalayas at their finest. Both spring (March–May) and autumn provide ideal conditions for breathtaking scenery, comfortable hikes, and unforgettable trekking adventures, making them the top seasons to explore Nepal’s mountains.
Winter Season (December – January – February): The skies are usually clear during this season, offering breathtaking Himalayan views, but trekkers should be prepared for very cold temperatures and possible snowfall. Some trails may be closed or covered in snow, so it’s important to check conditions with your trip planner before departure. With the right preparation, this season offers rewarding adventures in a stunning winter landscape.
Spring (March – April – May): Nepal’s pre-monsoon season brings warm days, clear skies, and vibrant natural beauty, making it one of the best times to trek in the Himalayas. Valleys come alive with blooming rhododendrons, colorful flowers, and fresh greenery, while higher altitudes offer crisp mornings and cool nights. With sunny weather, breathtaking mountain views, and pleasant trekking conditions, this season is perfect for adventurers seeking both comfort and natural splendor on the trails.
Summer Season (June–July – August): The monsoon or summer season is the least popular time for trekking in Nepal due to heavy downpours and an increased risk of leeches, especially in forested areas along trails like Mardi Himal. Trekkers are advised to wear long trousers tucked in and carry leech or mosquito repellent spray for protection. Despite the challenges, this season can be rewarding for alpine flower researchers, as the landscapes bloom with diverse flora unique to the monsoon months.
Note: The best time to trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp trek is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These seasons offer stable weather, clear mountain views, and pleasant temperatures, creating perfect conditions for scenic hikes and breathtaking landscapes. With blooming rhododendrons in spring and crisp skies in autumn, both seasons ensure a comfortable journey and an unforgettable Himalayan adventure.
Start your trekking day with a hearty breakfast served at the teahouses. You’ll find a mix of local and international options to fuel your journey. Popular choices include Tibetan bread, chapati, porridge, muesli, and pancakes. You can also enjoy eggs cooked to your liking-boiled, scrambled, or fried-as well as French toast, cornflakes, and hash browns. To warm up in the chilly morning air, hot beverages like tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are readily available.
Lunch is usually enjoyed at teahouses along the trail as you move from one destination to the next. Meals are freshly prepared and offer a variety of tastes. You can choose from traditional Nepali dal bhat (rice and lentils), thukpa (Tibetan noodle soup), and momos (dumplings) or go for international dishes like pasta, macaroni, spring rolls, sandwiches, and burgers. Some places even serve yak steak and Sherpa stew, giving you a taste of the local mountain cuisine.
After a day of trekking, dinner is served at the teahouse where you spend the night. The menus are similar to lunch but offer more variety and comfort food to help you refuel and relax. Common dinner options include dal bhat, thukpa, momos, pasta, chapati, curry with rice, vegetable dishes, soups, and even pizza. You’ll also find warm drinks, desserts, and hearty meals like Sherpa stew and yak steak. It’s the perfect way to end the day and recharge for the next leg of your adventure.
The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the most popular trekking routes in Nepal, and you won’t need to worry about carrying tents. The trail is well-equipped with a network of teahouses and trekking lodges that offer basic but comfortable accommodation. During your 9-day journey, you’ll stay at the best available teahouses selected by your trekking company to ensure a clean and cozy experience after a long day of hiking.
Most rooms are based on twin-sharing and feature simple amenities such as wooden beds, clean mattresses, pillows, warm blankets, and, in some places, attached bathrooms. While attached bathrooms can be found at lower elevations, they may not be available in higher-altitude villages. However, all accommodations are clean, safe, and designed to meet the needs of trekkers.
If you prefer more privacy, single rooms can be requested at most stops along the route, especially at lower altitudes and in cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara. However, it might be difficult to find single rooms in higher locations like Forest Camp and High Camp due to limited space and high demand during peak trekking seasons. Regardless, your stay in the Himalayas will be a unique and memorable part of your adventure.
The Mardi Himal Trek is classified as a moderate trek, making it ideal for beginners, families, and adventure seekers of all ages. You don’t need prior trekking experience-just a basic level of fitness, good health, and a positive attitude.
The trail features stone staircases, forested paths, and occasional rocky sections, with daily hikes averaging 5 to 6 hours. The gradual altitude gain, especially when trekking via Dhampus, allows your body to adjust naturally, reducing the risk of altitude sickness.
The highest point of the trek is Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4,500 meters, offering breathtaking Himalayan views. With the right preparation and mindset, even children and first-time trekkers can fully enjoy this serene journey into the heart of the Annapurna region.
For those with trekking experience, the Mardi Himal route is a refreshing and rewarding short adventure off the beaten path.
Altitude sickness, also known as acute mountain sickness, can occur during the Mardi Himal Trek as the oxygen level drops above 3,000 meters. Common symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath, and loss of appetite. To prevent altitude sickness during the trek, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and eat nutritious meals. Walk slowly and give your body time to adjust by acclimatizing properly before going higher. Carry Diamox, a recommended medicine for altitude sickness. If symptoms appear, rest or descend immediately. Staying clean and maintaining personal hygiene can also help reduce the risk of getting sick at high altitudes.
For a successful Mardi Himal Trek, packing the right gear is essential. Make sure to bring a quality sleeping bag, sturdy high-mountain trekking boots, trekking poles, a duffel bag, and warm, layered clothing suited for changing weather. Don’t forget thermal socks, gloves, a hat, UV-protection sunglasses, and sunscreen. Lightweight, comfortable clothing is ideal for high-altitude trekking. Important documents like permits, ID, and insurance should be kept handy. Additional useful items include a headlamp, refillable water bottles, water purification tablets, basic first aid, energy snacks, toiletries, and a quick-dry towel. Pack smart to enjoy a safe and comfortable Himalayan adventure.
Enhance your Mardi Himal Trek with Dream Paradise through a range of exclusive and practical add-ons that make your journey more comfortable and memorable.

Note: This Mardi Himal Trek package already includes one porter for every two trekkers to ensure comfort and ease during your journey. If you prefer to trek without porter support, we can reduce the package cost accordingly. This flexible option allows you to customize your trip based on your trekking style, budget, and comfort level.
These add-ons are designed to give you flexibility, comfort, and convenience on your Himalayan journey. Make your Mardi Himal Trek truly unforgettable!
All foreign (non-Nepali) trekkers need an ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) permit to enter the Annapurna Conservation Area, which covers the Mardi Himal Trek. SAARC nationals, including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Afghanistan, pay a reduced fee. The current cost is approximately NPR 3,000 for foreign trekkers and NPR 1,000 for SAARC nationals.
Electricity is available at most teahouses along the Mardi Himal Trek, allowing trekkers to charge devices such as smartphones, cameras, and tablets. The electricity connection is still under construction in some areas, but most power is generated through solar panels, and charging usually comes with a small fee.
While some teahouses offer Wi-Fi for an extra cost, internet connectivity on the Mardi Himal Trek is often slow and unreliable due to the remote Himalayan location. Trekkers should be prepared for limited or no internet access during the journey.
Dream Paradise Tours & Treks recommends carrying spare batteries or a power bank to ensure uninterrupted use of your devices while trekking.
For the Mardi Himal Trek, NTC SIM cards generally work better than Ncell in remote areas. In city and town areas, Ncell provides better data and call connectivity. Along the trail in remote trekking regions, NTC is more reliable for calls, although internet access is limited. Trekkers should be prepared for slow or no internet, but essential phone calls can usually still be made.
Trekking in the Annapurna Region, including the Mardi Himal Trek, is generally considered safe, especially when traveling with a licensed guide. The trails are well-marked, frequently used, and maintained to support the thousands of trekkers visiting the region each year.
We strongly recommend not trekking solo on the Mardi Himal route, as solo trekking can be risky. To ensure safety, proper acclimatization, physical preparation, and appropriate trekking gear are essential. Most itineraries include rest days to help your body adjust to higher altitudes. Trekking with an experienced guide also reduces the risk of altitude sickness and ensures help is available in emergencies.
Even though the Annapurna Region is generally safe, trekkers should remain alert to rapid weather changes, steep terrain, and altitude sickness symptoms, particularly above 3,000 meters.
By staying hydrated, pacing yourself, and following your guide’s advice, the Mardi Himal Trek can be a safe, rewarding, and unforgettable Himalayan adventure.
While the Annapurna Region and the Mardi Himal Trek offer the freedom to trek solo and enjoy breathtaking Himalayan landscapes at your own pace, we strongly recommend against solo trekking. In past years, some trekkers have gone missing, so hiring a licensed local guide, especially if this is your first trek in Nepal, is the safest choice.
Trekking with an experienced guide not only enhances your safety, helping prevent risks such as altitude sickness, injuries, or unexpected wildlife encounters, but also enriches your journey with expert insights into local culture, nature, and hidden gems along the trail.
Although hiring a guide may slightly increase your budget, your safety is the top priority. A guide ensures your adventure remains safe, smooth, and unforgettable from start to finish.
At Dream Paradise Tours, our government-licensed guides are dedicated to making your Mardi Himal Trek as safe and enjoyable as possible, supporting you every step of the way so you can trek with confidence and peace of mind.
Choose to trek with a guide and fully embrace the beauty of the Mardi Himal and Annapurna region, knowing you are in expert hands.
Yes, trekkers are required to carry their passport and trekking permits (ACAP) throughout the Mardi Himal Trek. There are checkpoints along the route where officials may ask to verify your Mardi Himal Trek Permit, also known as the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). Carrying these documents ensures a smooth journey and helps you avoid fines or delays.
Having your original passport and ACAP permit with you is essential for both safety and legal trekking in the Annapurna Region. By keeping these documents handy, you can enjoy the trek without unnecessary interruptions and fully focus on the breathtaking beauty of the Mardi Himal trail.
ATMs and credit cards are available only in major cities of Nepal, such as Kathmandu and Pokhara. Once you begin the Mardi Himal Trek, you will not find ATMs or reliable places to use credit cards along the trekking route, including villages and teahouses.
Trekkers are strongly advised to carry sufficient Nepalese Rupees in cash from Pokhara to cover all expenses, including accommodation, meals, hot showers, charging electronic devices, and other personal needs. Most teahouses accept only cash, and prices tend to increase at higher altitudes.
For a smooth and stress-free trekking experience, plan your budget in advance and withdraw enough cash in Pokhara before starting your Mardi Himal Trek.
The Mardi Himal Trek is considered a moderate-level trek in the Annapurna Region of Nepal, making it suitable for both beginners with basic fitness and experienced trekkers.
The highest point is Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 meters), where trekkers may face challenges related to altitude, such as shortness of breath and fatigue. On average, you will walk 5 to 7 hours per day through diverse landscapes, including forests, traditional villages, and high alpine terrain.
The trail features steep ascents, descents, and narrow ridges, but no technical climbing skills are required. While some sections can be slippery during rain or moderately steep, the well-marked trails and availability of teahouses for food and accommodation make the trek more accessible than many other high-altitude routes in Nepal.
For experienced trekkers: Mardi Himal may feel relatively easy, as the trails are not overly technical.
For beginners: It can feel moderately challenging, as it may be the first time walking for several days at high altitude (up to 4,500 m).
With proper physical preparation, acclimatization, and a steady pace, the Mardi Himal Trek difficulty is manageable for most people. This makes it an excellent choice for adventurers seeking breathtaking Himalayan views without extreme technical challenges.
Packing the right gear and equipment is essential for a safe and enjoyable Mardi Himal Trek in Nepal. Since the trek reaches up to 4,500 meters, you’ll experience changing weather conditions, from warm sunny days to cold nights. Below is a complete checklist of recommended gear and equipment:

Pro Tip: Pack light but smart. Layers are key for handling temperature changes on the Mardi Himal Trek. Most essentials can be bought or rented in Kathmandu or Pokhara before your trek.
While having travel insurance is not mandatory for the Mardi Himal Trek, it is highly recommended. As the saying goes, “prevention is better than cure.” Trekking in the Himalayas involves risks such as altitude sickness, injuries, or sudden health issues, and having insurance gives you peace of mind throughout your journey.
If an emergency occurs; such as severe altitude sickness that requires a helicopter rescue, insurance can cover the high costs and ensure quick arrangements are made. Without insurance, these expenses can be extremely expensive and stressful to manage.
By purchasing a reliable travel insurance policy before your trip, you can trek with confidence, knowing you are protected against unexpected situations. This allows you to fully enjoy the beauty of the Mardi Himal Trek with a free and relaxed mind.
